Abe HD

Abe's Odyssee is getting an HD remake. Abe's Odyssey is an old 2D side scroller, I can remember it always screwing me over when I was young. The original was freaky, weird, and awesome. The new remake is going to have a 3D physics and is going to be all prettied up. The Oddworld games have been arriving on Steam for download in the past year, and everyone should really give them a try (for only a couple bucks, c'mon you cheap-os). The developer, Just Add Water, is also releasing Stranger's Wrath for the PSN and possibly XBLA (depending on Microsoft). There's no word on which platforms the game is going to come out on. This game is a classic, and it's freakin' weird.

X-Rays, Not Just For Broken Livers Anymore!

Well, the reboot of Mortal Kombat is just around the corner now, and luckily it's not Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe. Hooray! Anyway, the game is being released April 19th, 2011 for the Xbox 360 and PS3. Now for the fun gory details...

Black Ops "First Strike" Map Pack

On February 1st the Call of Duty world will be graced (or disgraced) by a new map pack. This "First Strike" could also be Trearch's last strike if the map packs don't meet people's standards. Seeing the new trailer gives me hope that at least the zombie's map will be cool, and looking at some of the guns in the multi player section of the trailer it seems that they might be adding some new bling. It will all come out in the wash on February 1st. Hope everyone enjoys the video above and stay tuned for a complete review of the maps on February 2nd.

Wolfenstein 1D

I'm sure everyone remembers Wolfenstein, and if they don't remember then they remember that some old creepy guy in a van told them about it once. Well, if you don't know what it is..  It was widely regarded as the archetype of first person shooters. The main character, William B.J. Blazkowicz, (see what I did there?) was trying to escape from a Nazi stronghold. Anyway, mutants, mutants, mutants, Hitler, and mad scientists. It's a great game, even now, I urge you to go play it. I do believe there is a shareware version (it was originally released as shareware). But... To the point!

Wolfenstein 1D? Wait.. I'm no math whiz, but that's length right? (or width depending on your perspective, you pessimist). Yes you heard it right, Wolfenstein 1D! A surprisingly fun browser game. It's pretty tough too, especially if you're color blind. Go check it out. It's free (it costs less than water and hookers) and it's nostalgic to anyone that really enjoyed the first one in the past. I haven't gotten very far into it, seeing as I can't even beat DOOM 1 on normal anymore. Post in the comments if you get anywhere.

Gaming Deals

 Well this week's deals look very scarce.. But I've managed to scrap up a few good ones. Don't spend all your money in one place on this week's PC (digital distribution) and Xbox 360 games and add-ons.

Crysis 2 Multiplayer Demo

 

The multiplayer demo for Crysis 2 is out tomorrow exclusively for Xbox Live. The early footage of this game is looking to live up to it's predecessor and it's sure to sell more due to the multiple consoles it is on. Sadly the singleplayer campaign does not follow the main character from Crysis 1 but rather follows a new story involving the invasion of New York. The game is running on the new Cryengine 3 and boasts day-night cycles, destructability, and other new effects. The game is set to release March 2011.

Also! The Bulletstorm demo is set to release tomorrow too (just singleplayer). I'll be posting reactions tomorrow.
